How is the CUET Percentile Calculated?
The CUET percentile is calculated using a normalisation
formula based on session-specific performance. The NTA uses the formula given
below to calculate the CUET percentile:
Percentile Score = 100 × (Number of candidates who appeared
in that session with a raw score equal to or less than your score) / (Total
number of candidates who appeared in that session).
Steps for CUET Percentile Calculation: Candidates can calculate their CUET UG percentile by following the steps given below:
The raw score for CUET UG is calculated using the following
formula:
CUET Raw Score = (Number of correct answers × 5) – (Number
of incorrect answers × 1)
The NTA calculates the total number of candidates who appeared in that specific session. It determines how many students have a score equal to or less than your score.
CUET Result 2026: What is the Normalization Process?
The CUET normalization process is implemented to ensure that candidates neither gain an advantage nor suffer a disadvantage based on the difficulty level of the examination, which is conducted across multiple phases. Under this process, candidates appearing in all sessions of the CUET UG 2026 examination will be ranked on a comparative scale.
In the CUET normalization process, based on the average performance in each session, scores from easier sessions may be slightly reduced, while scores from more difficult sessions may be slightly increased. If there is no significant difference between the averages of the two sessions, there will be no significant difference in the normalized scores either. To avoid the "bunching effect," percentile scores are calculated up to seven decimal places.
