AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) or AIIMS All India Institute of Medical Sciences is a group
of autonomous public medical universities in India. It is recognised as a
premier institution for medical education, research, and patient care. The
first and most famous AIIMS, AIIMS New Delhi, was established in 1956. Since
then, several AIIMS institutes have been established across India. AIIMS institutes
offer undergraduate (MBBS), postgraduate (MD/MS), super-speciality, and research
programs in various medical and paramedical fields. They are known for their
high academic standards, advanced medical research, and excellent healthcare
services. AIIMS hospitals provide quality treatment at an affordable cost,
making them accessible to a large population.
Total AIIMS in India
As of February 2025, there are 26 All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) across India. The first and most famous, AIIMS New Delhi, was established in 1956. The remaining 25 institutes have been developed since 2012, with many still in various stages of development. Of these, 20 AIIMS are fully operational, while others are under development.
