1. MBA Admission Process 2026

The requirements and process for MBA admission to any good MBA college typically include these steps:

A) Take the MBA Entrance Exam: Candidates need to take one or two MBA entrance exams, such as CAT, XAT, SNAP, NMAT, CMAT, MAT, or state-level MBA entrance exams. A good score/percentile in CAT/XAT is essential for admission to top colleges in India. Check your eligibility for the MBA entrance exam.

B) Apply to your chosen B-schools: Along with taking the MBA entrance exam, you should apply to MBA colleges that match your criteria (such as course, fees, location, etc.). The MBA admission fee (application fee) ranges from ₹1000 to ₹3000, depending on the college. MBA application forms are available on the official websites of the MBA colleges, or you can also find them using the links provided below.

C) Get shortlisted for WAT, GD, and PI: After applying to the colleges, they will shortlist you for the final admission round based on your entrance exam score and academic performance.

D) Participate in Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI): The final selection round includes a group discussion (to assess your interpersonal skills) and a personal interview (to assess your communication skills, self-awareness, and motivation for pursuing an MBA).

The admission process may vary from one institution to another, but overall, a good academic record, a good score in the entrance exam, and a strong performance in the group discussion and personal interview can lead to admission to a good MBA program.

E) Receive final admission confirmation and pay the fees: From January to April 2026, MBA colleges will offer MBA admissions for the 2026 batch. You should be ready to pay the fees and secure your admission.

The steps mentioned above are common to all B-schools, though there may be some minor variations. This article will focus on all these aspects.

2. MBA Admission 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Understanding MBA eligibility and admission criteria is essential to securing a seat in a top business school. While the criteria vary from institute to institute, in general, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Entrance Exams Score: Achieving good scores in MBA Entrance Exams, such as CAT, XAT, CMAT, among others, is an important requirement for top MBA colleges. Work experience: While it's not mandatory for MBA programs in India, having work experience will increase your chances of getting selected.

IIM Ahmedabad Admission 2026 Policy Released:

I) The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad) has revised its shortlisting criteria for its flagship Post Graduate Programme (PGP) 2026-28 batch, raising the benchmark for CAT candidates this year. According to the new IIM Ahmedabad Admission 2025 policy, General and EWS category candidates must now score a minimum of 95 percentile overall and at least 85 percentile in each section.

This is significantly higher than the previous cut-offs of 80 overall and 70 sectionals for the General category. With these changes, only top performers will be eligible for the IIM Ahmedabad personal interview round. This careermantra.org article explains the new IIM Ahmedabad admission criteria, eligibility, cut-offs, CAT/Interview weightage for final admission, and all other details.

II) IIM Lucknow Admission 2026 Policy Released: IIM Lucknow has also announced its 2026 admission policy. This includes eligibility criteria, cut-off scores, selection process, shortlisting and final selection criteria, weightage, etc. The CAT 2025 shortlisting criteria for IIM Lucknow MBA is 90% for General category candidates. In the final selection, the CAT 2025 score has a weightage of only 30%, while the personal interview carries a higher weightage.
