CTET 2025 Exam: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will soon release the official notification for the 21st edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). The notification for CTET 2025 can be released any time now.

According to media reports, the CTET exam notification is expected to be released on the official website ctet.nic.in in August 2025. Both papers 1 and 2 of the CTET exam are expected to be held in December 2025. However, no official announcement has been made regarding the CTET 2025 schedule related to the notification, application process, and exam. CBSE CTET exam is of national importance and serves as a mandatory eligibility requirement for individuals wishing to apply for teaching positions in central government schools like KVS and NVS for classes 1 to 8. Candidates are advised to check this page frequently for the latest updates regarding CTET exam date, application form, eligibility criteria, admit card, exam pattern, syllabus, answer key, question paper, result, qualifying marks, and other necessary information.

What is CTET?

CTET is a national-level eligibility test conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The CTET exam is conducted annually to determine the eligibility of candidates for appointment as teachers in central government schools like KVS and NVS. The CTET examination consists of two different papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. The CTET Paper 1 is for individuals who wish to teach classes 1-5 (Primary Teacher), while Paper 2 is for those who wish to teach classes 6-8 (Primary Teacher). Candidates who wish to teach classes 1-8 will have to appear for both papers. CBSE has conducted 20 editions of the CTET exam so far. The CBSE CTET exam is conducted offline in pen-and-paper mode.

Eligibility Criteria for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test: 

The eligibility criteria for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) for the year 2025 are set by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and vary depending on the paper (Paper 1 for primary level and Paper 2 for elementary level). Generally, candidates should have passed or appeared for Higher Secondary (12th) or Graduation and should have relevant teacher training qualifications like a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.Ed) or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). There is no upper age limit, but generally, the minimum age required is 18 years.

Step 1: Fill out the CTET application form

Candidates will have to fill out their CTET application form through the official exam website. Additionally, candidates will also have to pay the CTET application fee, which is Rs 1,000 for one paper and Rs 1,200 for two papers.

Step 2: Download the CTET admit card

Candidates are able to download the CTET admit card from the official website of the examination. The CTET exam admit card contains relevant details related to the candidate and the exam. It also contains the details of the candidate's exam centre and the reporting time for the exam.

Step 3: Attend the CTET exam

Candidates are required to reach their CTET exam centre at least 90 minutes before the commencement of the exam. The CTET exam is of two and a two-and-a-half-hour duration. On the day of the exam, two papers are conducted. Paper 1 is to be given by candidates who wish to qualify to teach in classes 1 to 5 (primary wing). Paper 2 is for those candidates who wish to qualify to teach classes 6 to 8 (primary wing).

Step 4: Check CTET Result

CBSE declares the CTET result on the official website of the exam. Candidates who qualify for the exam get a CTET eligibility certificate. The validity of the CTET eligibility certificate has been increased from seven years to lifetime.
