NTA NEET 2025: Exam Pattern (Changed), Syllabus (Released), Exam Dates (Expected Soon), Eligibility and Preparation Tips

NTA NEET 2025: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has made changes to the NEET 2025 exam pattern. Optional questions have been removed. There will now be 180 questions instead of 200 questions. The total time allocated for NEET 2025 has been reduced from 200 minutes to 180 minutes (3hours).

Announcing this, the National Testing Agency (NTA) said, "Candidates are informed that the question paper pattern and exam duration will revert to the pre-COVID format. There will no longer be a Section B. Hence, there will be a total of 180 compulsory questions (45-45 questions in Physics and Chemistry and 90 questions in Biology) which candidates will be able to solve in 180 minutes, eliminating the optional questions and extra time introduced due to COVID."

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially clarified in a notification dated January 24, 2025, that obtaining an Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID is not mandatory for registering for the NEET 2025 examination. Even though use of APAAR ID is implemented by National Testing Agency (NTA) for NEET UG 2025 this year onwards, and candidates are encouraged to link their APAAR it with their Aadhaar details, it is not made mandatory, as was suggested in the notification dated 14th January, 2025.

The NTA has clarified that the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID is not a mandatory for registrations for NEET UG 2025. Candidates may continue with their exam registration through other available methods, the specifics of which will be provided in the forthcoming information bulletin.

In the previous year, the NEET website was located at neet.ntaonline.in. Currently, the NEET 2025 website has published a notification concerning the syllabus for NEET 2025, which was previously released by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

The National Medical Commission (NMC) published the NEET 2025 syllabus PDF on December 16, 2024. There is no change in the NEET syllabus 2025, and it is the same as last year. Announcing the final syllabus of NEET 2025, the NMC has said, "It is notified to all stakeholders, especially the aspiring candidates that the Board of Under Graduate Medical Education, an autonomous body under the National Medical Commission, has finalized the NEET (UG) 2025 syllabus."

It is expected that NTA will soon release the NEET 2025 exam date in January 2025. Last year, NTA had announced the exam date of NEET along with other entrance exams like CUET UG, JEE Main and UGC NET in September 2023. Currently, the NTA has not issued any announcement or given any indication of releasing the common exam calendar.

As per the trend this year, NTA is announcing the exam date along with releasing the application form of entrance exams almost two months before the exam date. So, there are chances that NTA may announce the NEET 2025 exam date and release the NEET 2025 application form in the first week of March 2025.
